How to Edit Inappropriate Google Review Responses

The occasional negative Google review is a fact-of-life for most car dealers.

In the heat of the moment, you might have responded to some of these negative reviews in a tone of language that is not entirely appropriate. 

Do you know that dealers can quickly edit their Google review responses on Google Maps and Search? Here’s how to do it.

1. Visit the review page and search for your response
2. You will find an edit button below your review response
3. Click on the button and a new window opens that allows you to edit the response
4. After you’re done, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
5. Your edited review response will be saved and published on Google.

Here’s how your customers can edit reviews.

Similar to dealers, customers can also edit their dealer reviews on Google Maps and Search.

1. Customers need to log in with their Google account and visit the Maps website.
2. Click on the dash menu icon at the top left corner of the search box
3. Click on ‘Your contributions’ and ‘Reviews.’
4. Click on the ‘More’ icon where a small window opens
5. Click on the ‘Edit review’ option
6. After editing, click on the ‘Post’ button to republish the edited review

Is it Possible to Edit Your Customers’ Reviews?

No, editing your customers’ reviews is not possible but if the reviews are false, then they can be flagged. Most likely they will be eventually deleted from Google.

Another way of doing it is by taking the initiative to resolve the issue and then requesting the customer to suitably modify the review. This is an option which needs to be handled with sensitivity.
